Hi Hawks families,
It is almost time for the kids to get back on the ice after a long 16 months which saw our 2019/2020 season stopped abruptly and not getting much of a season for 2020/2021. We hope the 2021/2022 season will bring back some normalcy.
As per the Hockey Canada pathway, we are to get U11 players on the ice 4 times before evaluations take place. Additionally, this season, the Hawks have decided to get the U13 players on the ice 2 times before evaluations as a trial run.
Below you will find the the times and locations for the pathway skates as well as the planned times for the evaluations. Groupings will come out closer to the day.
After a successful trial with the U13 group last year, we are excited to have Bardown Education do our evaluations for U11 and U13 this season. Each child in these categories will get 4 skates during evaluations. The evaluations will consist of a warm up skate, skills/3on3 session, followed by 2 scrimmages.
U7 and U9 will continue to be evaluated and teams created by our directors.
Each player in U11 and U13 will have four evaluation skates. U7 will have 2 skates and U9 will have 3 skates.
All skate times will be communicated by email, using the email address you provided at registration.
We are excited to see you at the rink!

Hockey players may vary considerably in their individual skills. In general, players have a more enjoyable experience when playing with other players of similar abilities. In order to provide this, an evaluation process is necessary.
In the Hawks Athletics Club, all Novice, Atom and Peewee players will participate in evaluations. Evaluations are based on the player's age category and direct observation of hockey skills with a strong emphasis on skating. The purpose of evaluations is to create teams consisting of players with similar abilities. Every effort is made to ensure a fair and equitable process. The Evaluation Committee, in consultation with the HAC executive, develops and conducts the evaluation process.
Please remember that the selection process may be difficult for both players and evaluators and we ask that you do not make it more difficult with your actions or comments.
Any questions about the evaluation process should be directed to the VP Hockey Operations.
Please check the website in late August for the date, time and location of your child's evaluations.
