Discovery

Discovery is a program for beginning skaters who are learning to move and skate while wearing hockey equipment.

  • For 4 year old's as of December 31.
  • Discovery is not a prerequisite for Junior and Senior Timbits.
  • Discovery is for beginning skaters who are learning to skate.
  • This structured program teaches basic movement and skating through development drills for about 2/3 of each 45 minute ice slot.
  • The remaining 1/3 of the session is devoted to playing non-competitive fun activities that develop the skills learned in the practice.
  • The players are registered in groups; there are no teams formed.
  • Non-competitive.
  • Structured program based on Hockey Canada's Initiation Program.
  • No scheduled games throughout the season - practices only.
  • Will include the Timbits Fall Festival (December) and Winter Jamboree (March).

The Hawks Athletic Club is a member of Hockey Edmonton and has been providing organized hockey in northwest Edmonton since 1987. The Hawks Athletic Club is open to all boys and girls, aged 4 through 12 years (timbits through peewee), residing in Edmonton north of Stony Plain Road and the MacKinnon Ravine to the city boundary and 97 Street west to the city limits.

You will find our program fun, exciting and competitive, with our main goal being the development of skating and hockey skills.
