Registration and Conditioning Camps Update - 2022/2023 Season

Jun. 28, 2022

Summer and Beyond (Next Season)

The Hawks Athletic Club wishes everyone a wonderful summer with family and friends.  With one hockey season ending, another one begins and we are gearing up to have 2022-23 season registration open up on July 1st: http://www.hawksathletics.ca/content/2022-2023-registration-information

We are excited to have Bar Down Education back to do the U11 and U13 evaluations for the 2022-2023 hockey season.  Enjoying the offseason looks different for every athlete and the Hawks and Bar Down Education love to see athletes enjoy playing other sports, having holidays and when possible working on their hockey skills for next season.

The off-season can look different for every athlete and family and there are many great camps and skill sessions (don’t forget about public skating and good old street hockey too) out there for hockey families to explore.  Bar Down Education highlights 5 main competencies while evaluating so if a camp or impromptu street hockey session works on these areas it will only help in the startup of next season.

 Camps

This season, the Hawks Athletic Club Conditioning Camp will be bringing back Britney Millar, from Millar Power Skating, to provide hockey players, from U9 to U13, the opportunity to enhance their conditioning and skating skills in preparation for the 2021-2022 hockey season.  Britney and her team are a wonderful asset to get the most out of our athletes when it comes to skating technique and endurance. She has a wonderful on-ice presence and has over 12 years of experience instructing individuals from minor hockey to the NHL levels.

Week One sessions will place an emphasis on developing the players' aerobic (cardiovascular endurance) conditioning which will be accomplished through a variety of high intensity flow drills involving continuous skating and exertion.

Week Two sessions will place an emphasis on developing the players' anaerobic (explosive peak power) conditioning which will be accomplished through a variety of high intensity drills which involve stopping and starting, agility and acceleration.

Attendance at both conditioning camp sessions will provide hockey players with a solid conditioning base to start their hockey season!

The 2022 Hawks Athletic Club Goaltending Camp will be run by Level Up Goaltending to advance netminding skills from U9 to U13. Level Up develops strong foundations in multiple skill sets, focusing on developing physical, technical, tactical and mental skills. They provide immediate feedback on position, technique and game play while practicing the skills you need to take your game to the next level.
